SunMoon Bey is the visionary founder of Heritage Dialects, an online language-learning institution dedicated to reclaiming and revitalizing the Indigenous African American language known as Mama Tut — a modern evolution of the historic coded language Tutnese.
As an educator, linguist, and cultural steward, SunMoon has spent years studying the linguistic roots of African American expression, tracing connections between A.A.V.E., Gullah Geechee, and the African grammatical systems that survived the Middle Passage. His work bridges history and modern identity, turning what was once a secret code into a living, spoken language for today’s generation.
Through Heritage Dialects, SunMoon’s mission is clear: to restore the linguistic genius of African Americans and to empower our people to speak, teach, and preserve our languages with pride.
Every lesson, course, and campaign under the Heritage Dialects brand serves one purpose — to remind our community that our voices, our dialects, and our ways of speaking are sacred. Language is culture, memory, and resistance all in one.
